My Career Background
I have been fortunate enough to have spent over 52 years of my wonderful life at sea; together with my magical wife Bernadette and family, meeting some wonderful people across the globe who are now close friends. From starting as a Deck Cadet in South Africa; a proud servant of the Merchant Navy, to my first Master's position, to commanding the world's largest Container ships and more recently captaining Cruise ships for over 25 years.
Since retirement, it is my passion to share my many diverse memories and experiences encountered during my life at sea; including destination insights and knowledge to others. I have lectured on several cruise ships for voyages across the world, and also hold maritime talks regularly across North West England to societies, clubs and larger organisations. I have also been invited to present awards for ceremonies and events which I take great pride and appreciation in supporting.
This now gives me the chance to give something back in support of ALL Seafarers across the world!
On the 12th November 2020 I was honoured to be awarded the State Award for services to maritime careers and training .
The MERCHANT NAVY MEDAL for MERITORIOUS SERVICE
This state award is for men and women who show exceptional devotion to duty, exemplary service and actas an example to others.

My Talks and Lectures
It's my passion to share my diverse experiences gathered around the world. I bring exciting and enjoyable educational talks direct to varied audiences; covering authentic self made presentations with personal photos I have collected throughout the years. All professional PowerPoint presentations are approximately 45 - 60 minutes. The duration time of talk can be adjusted to fit your time-slot, following which I am always open to answer any questions from the audience on completion of the talk.
